Nuevos Destinos: Spanish in Review continues the story and characters of Destinos in a new 15-episode series. Before beginning Episode 1, the Capítulo Preliminar provides an opportunity to reconnect with Raquel Rodríguez and review important Spanish vocabulary and grammar that will be used throughout the series.
This introductory chapter reviews familiar topics such as greetings and question words, describing people and places, noun and adjective agreement, possessives, subject pronouns, the present tense, and everyday vocabulary. It also introduces cultural material about the Spanish-speaking world. Think of it as a refresher that prepares you to concentrate on the story and increasingly detailed Spanish you will encounter in the episodes ahead.
Nuevos Destinos was developed by Cynthia B. Medina in collaboration with WGBH Boston, McGraw-Hill, and the Annenberg/CPB Project. Her approach combines language review with continuing narrative, allowing students to reinforce Spanish vocabulary and grammar while following the characters and story introduced in Destinos.
Para empezar, lee la carta de Raquel Rodríguez. En ella, Raquel recuerda una investigación que tuvo lugar hace cinco años y te prepara para la historia que vas a conocer. Mientras lees, piensa: ¿Qué pasó durante aquella investigación? ¿Volverán a aparecer algunos de sus personajes? ¿Surgirá un nuevo caso? Muy pronto lo descubrirás.

✈️ Continue to Nuevos Destinos Part 1: El RegresoThere is only one set of audio files for both the textbook and workbook/study guides. Each audio file is used for both. The textbook contains the “script” and reading that goes with the audio file. The Workbook (Manual de actividades) contains the actual blanks to be filled in while listening to the audio file.
The audio is specifically designed to “talk” you through both the textbook and workbook activities. For example, a narrator will say, “Lección uno. Comprensión. Ejercicio A…” and then provide the audio content used to respond to the workbook questions & activities.
3 May 2026:
The Q&A content needed attention. Originally (a long time ago) I included two different sets of questions from various sources. But the questions were redundant, some answers were wrong, and the number of questions was overwhelming. With a little AI help I went through every episode and combined the Q&A sets, grouped the questions, and checked the answers. It took three long, tedious days to complete. I hope you like the results.
